>> And Arizona is not the only state with a stay ready mindset. Right now, one non-profit in California is also prepping for May 11th, but also beyond James Corderro was with border kindness in San Diego, California. They provide food, shelter, clothing, medical care, legal services to asylum seekers and migrants. James, I know you’re actually packing up right now as you’re heading out to get on the road in the morning. So appreciate you taking the time tonight. And this is very dynamic not only as title 42 going away. You know, we heard this lady say we’re actually getting a lot of people hailing from Asia and other areas. It’s Central America. Are you guys ready? How much capacity do you have?

>> You know, we’re always ready are just a program which we call the water drop program. We’ve been doing this 7 years now. So we’re in our 8th year of activity doing work out there. So no matter what comes, you know, you know, do the

>> The system. You know, however, many people come across the border in the

00:01:00

mountains and deserts. We’re going to be prepared as we’ve seen with title. 42 going into effect after the pandemic started. We know sunrise in amount of people crossing through, we upped our suppliers. We you know, the frequency of how often we went out. Currently we go out once a week, at least if we see more people coming through using our supplies and we’re going to have you know, definitely take up a notch and go out there more days that we can leave more supplies, the call for more volunteers and just do whatever we can to try to minimize the suffering and death. One bordering eagle.

>> Clearly feel very passionately about doing this. I mean, even bringing supplies has been contentious in recent years. Some people run shelters, some people going. The people actually where they are like you do in these really, you know, troubled areas we have seen in recent days. Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly. They’re both Arizona Democrats, not Republicans cinema. She’s now an independent, but she was a Democrat. They told Ehs yesterday we need a plan. Do not released migrants on the

00:02:01

streets W**** nilly. You’ve done this before. It does not work out well for anybody. The city’s the migrants has the government shared a more detailed plan with organizations like yours?

>> Not our organization specifically. I’m not sure if they do with other organizations who our with people all the time. We do a lot of our work. We don’t communicate with people crossing through will hike out into the remote areas. Areas where people are known to die while crossing and we will leave supplies, food, water, protective clothing, leave all that out there. We rarely come across people. We noticed in the last few years more people are working across face to providing direct, you too. But you know, maybe other organizations have no contact with a but not organization. And as we see in the past with different aid organizations in Arizona that the government, you know, doesn’t really support the type you know, programs that we do and the hope that we provide people out there. Were, you know, we

00:03:05

rely for grassroots game to the core we rely on private donations and you going to use to help us out. Get the supplies that needed to try to minimize deafening. You know, it’s a fun out there.

>> I was actually wondering about that because Congress did set aside hundreds of millions of dollars to fund relief programs and border security and border aid. Do you have the resources you need? Because, again, I know some people say you guys should stop doing what you’re doing, that you’re only, you know, helping the problem. And other people are saying, no, you’re you’re saving lives. That’s why we do it every day. Do you have what you need?

>> We can always use more anyone who does this type of work along the border can always use more. No government money has been shared. And like I say, I don’t know if other organizations are getting money or not. I don’t know, but we’re grassroots. We rely private donations so we will go out and do whatever type work we can within our means. And we can always use more. You can always use extra help. Ensure boost on the ground. Use. Extra money would

00:04:06

use extra supplies. You money can be donated to us through all the major, many platforms on the phone. Plus, we do have wish list on Amazon if people can purchase supplies and help us out. And we also have, you know, on our social media and on our website, we do have ways that people can sign up and join and once they get that can come through with us into the mountains, desert and the supplies help people out.

>> James, let’s end on this. Are you hopeful about the next few months?

>> Yeah, mean, I’m hoping nothing goes dead, but these next few months are also the hottest months of the year where people have been forced to cross through between ports of entries where there’s either no fans or no physical board patrol. You know, you of people. We’ve seen a year after year. It doesn’t matter if it’s freezing cold as me doesn’t matter. If it’s no, it doesn’t matter if it’s 130

00:05:07

degrees. People are still crossing through. People will still risk their lives and a chance of living. And we know that people come across from all over the world for all different reasons. But the reason is to survive and that’s why out there doing. We’re doing.

>> I’m glad you tell me what you did, what you did you know, when we started talking I was thinking what would drive someone to go out? I mean, it’s physical peril for you guys as well. I appreciate you bringing us into your mindset as well as the migrants. I know a lot has been building up to what’s coming next week. James Corderro with border kindness.
